Central Oregon has 21 golf courses or 342 holes ranging in difficulty, from recreational to challenging and even expert rounds. Sunriver alone has three distinctive courses, including Meadows, Woodlands and the new Crosswater course designed by Robert Cupp.

With 3 million acres of National Forest, there are limitless opportunities for off-road biking with various degrees of difficulty. Spectacular scenery of rivers, mountains and an abundance of wildlife, you can't go wrong with a bike ride. So, you want to take it easy? Sunriver has over 33 miles of paved bike paths that wind around the Deschutes river, past the Stables and through the unique resort community. 

Hiking - Summer and Winter

The Three Sisters Wilderness Pacific Trail System and it's numerous trails extend for miles and miles! Pristine views abound with many private areas for reflection. Everything from day-hiking to overnight trips!

People from all over come to Smith Rocks to Climb. It is one of the few places to climb with such a wide variety of skill levels. Climbing is possible all year round as Central Oregon boasts an average of over 280 days of sun per year... An experience not to be missed!

You will have no trouble finding a spot to windsurf with the numerous reservoirs or Elk Lake. If you haven't tried it, there are plenty of shops to rent equipment, get tips or take a lesson.

Whitewater Rafting

Skiing and Snowboarding

Cross Country

A great way to experience the wonder of wildlife and the back country. Most of the snow parks provide shelters for a rest or a snack by a warm fire. Mt. Bachelor has 56KM of groomed trails. The beautiful scenery is second to none!

Down Hill

At Mt. Bachelor, they have a sophisticated network of high-speed, detachable lifts that give you the access needed to experience all 3,700 acres of incredible terrain. Mt. Bachelor has been named "Best Lift System in North America" by Ski Magazine for the second straight year.

Parks & Pipes

Mt. Bachelor was one of the first US resorts to offer unlimited access to snowborders with their jalf pipe, triple pipe, and terrain park. The parks and pipes are groomed regularly and are open to both skiers and snowboarders.

High Desert Museum

To broaden the knowledge and understanding of the natural and cultural history and resources of the High Desert for the purpose of promoting thoughtful management decisions that will sustain and enhance the awareness of the region's natural and cultural heritage.

This nationally acclaimed "living museum" celebrates the region's natural and cultural history with exhibits and animals. Enjoy Western and Native American artifacts creatively displayed in three different galleries. Outside, nature trails will take you through a working sawmill, a 19th-century mining town, trout streams, and native porcupines and river otters habitats.

Spelunking

Remarkable lava caves can be found all over Central Oregon. The Lava River cave is the longest intact lava tube in Oregon. It is conveniently located one mile off Highway 97 between Sunriver and Bend. Edison Ice Cave is located on the way to Mt. Bachelor. The Lava Lands Visitor Center on Highway 97 is open seasonally and is a great educational experience. There are displays, guided tours and interpretive trails not to mention great views.
